Looking good and feeling good about oneself is something that every woman wants to feel, and I am not an exception to them. I always want to feel great about myself to boost my confidence. My way of achieving such is by creating my own fashion statement. My colleagues noticed my style and I got mixed comments from them. I sometimes forget to consider my built as well as my height. Nevertheless, they give me tips and advice on how to improve my fashion style.

It’s not that I complain about my God-given height but it is really one of my struggles. There’s a lot of dress that I want to wear but it made me look shorter than I thought it would. I am overwhelmed with how media advertisement introduces new shoes style. When I went to the mall for shoe shopping or searching, I mean, I always look for wedges or stilettos that would fit and look good on my size 5 but wider feet. I have a favorite shoes brand. Their designs are not really that superb but it fits perfectly on my small feet. I love watching fashion shows wherein I can gain some ideas from the models. However, the shoes that they are wearing are meant for special occasions and I can’t imagine wearing it on casual days. I also love browsing shoes designs on the internet and I intentionally browsed for Prada shoes since I was curious and influenced with the movie of Anne Hathaway entitled “The Devil Wears Prada”.

I already heard about Prada brand but I doubt if it is available here in the Philippines. Prada shoes are best shown in www.bluefly.com ,a site that introduces designer shoes and other apparels for both men and women. As for Prada shoes, they almost have all categories that you want. You will enjoy browsing for shoes because you can view the details by just moving your mouse. They offer special discounts for those who will sign up and become a member. I have watched Inception more than two weeks ago at SM Cinema with Ate Jeni (my sponsor) and Rhyz. Ate Jeni said it was her second time to watch the movie but love the movie so much that she never get tired of watching it over and over again.

And yes, true to her words, the movie is indeed so mind-boggling that if you haven't watch the first scene you will find it really vague. Leonardo played his role so well (as expected). The cinematography and the effects are well done. We were able to watch on its last full show so I didn't get the chance of watching it all over again. Right after the movie, ate jeni asked me if how many times did Leonardo dreamed, I said four but shew insisted on five.... Well, whatever, I cannot argue with her because that was her second or third time... Wondering? Watch it so you will know :)

I am just a typical not-so-young professional who is struggling so hard to get her work done correctly and timely.

Reality bites, sometimes our deeds are misunderstood... Sometimes also our efforts are just simply ignored.

No matter how hard we try to keep up the good work, we do sometimes fail... we do sometimes missed the main significant points. Doing multifarious tasks can be tedious, stressful and may cause a lot of pressures. An armful load of assignments is so difficult to cope up especially if all are on the "priority list". Like what others said, we just cannot serve two masters at the same time, how much more with three or more? But somehow, if we are used to it, it became so normal that we don't recognize those negative feelings anymore. Too good to be true?

Honestly, I can do a lot of things if I am in a very calm situation. Meaning, if things around me are okay, everything will be okay. And if I am okay, no matter how loaded my hands would be with works, it really doesn't matter because I am at peace and my heart is right. I know this has something to do with my attitude. In work, I should be insensitive sometimes. I should not let bad situations overwhelm me that could really affects my work. But I just can't help it.

I know we cannot pleased everyone- that's a FACT. But if the one we want to pleased with is not returning the favor, woooh what a disaster it would be!

I am now hanging in a balance... uncertain of the outcome. I do not know what lies ahead of me.

Well, God knows better how I felt right now. Whatever may happen, it should be in accordance to His will, whether in favor or against me. I JUST DO NOT KNOW.

I just missed my sister so much upon seeing her old pic (when she's still too young) posted on her facebook wall. Time flew so fast and a lot of changes took place...

We're quite different in so many ways yet we're close enough. She's the aggressive type, I'm a little bit apprehensive... She's adventurous, and I'm a little bit reserved. She's pretty and, well, other says, I'm just cute (lol)... Really, I missed her so much... I missed those bonding we have together. We used to fight and then laugh about it...

She's now happily married to a very loving, understanding husband who love her unconditionally. I am very happy for her... and for the kind of life that she's enjoying right now...

Hopefully, her plan to go home by next year will finally be pursued...

Pressure at work and pressure in personal life- how should we go about it? By merely thinking on the "how", that entails a lot of pressure already. Pressure can choke us to death... oops overstated! But honestly, it could happen if not handled properly. Wherever you go, whatever you do, pressures are indispensable. Forgot an important event? Scheduling a meeting? organizing a committee? or even gathering ideas in order to come up with a narrative report to be submitted on the day the instruction was given? P-R-E-S-S-U-R-E-. Where in the world does pressure originated from? WordWeb defines it as "An oppressive condition of physical, mental, social or economic distress" and mind you, distress was clearly defined as "psychological suffering". Too bad, does it sound so alarming? I sometimes have this feeling whenever I am faced with pressures. I even wanted to shout just to release all of it. But if we come to realize in the long run that life is not all about that, then maybe we can cope up with it. Besides, there's more to life than pressure. We can still manage our life well amidst those things. Let us just remember that pressure are only present if we failed to do our task well and if we failed to surrender everything to God, our only source of strength. Let us be reminded that we tend to fail and feel pressured and all these were allowed by God for us to acknowledge His presence and Sovereignty. If you haven't tried to lift up everything to God, why not do it now?

Hopefully by reading this, you will realize that life is not really that bad after all and that Pressures may be indispensable but our God is able.

I Am A Filipino

I am a Filipino citizen and I am proud about it. I am short, with curly hair and a brown complexion. I love the sunset, I admired the sea, I love siesta time, I love to play "sungka","bato-lata", and "taguan". I used to play "patintero" when I was a kid during full moon.

I love to hear folk stories, I love to doodle, I love to sing... I don't really dance but I learned few steps of chacha, bogie and tango.

I believe in dreams. I hope in reality. I enjoyed life in province more than life in the city. I love nature. I love trees. I love mountain climbing even under the scorching heat of the sun. I love the beaches though I do not know how to swim.

I am really a Filipino. Despite crises that our country is facing, I am still proud for being a Filipino. Versatile, flexible, friendly though quite moody.

I am not considering yet of going abroad because my heart feels safer to be here than there...

The Risk of Delaying

We want things to get done as early as possible. That is no longer unusual for all of us. Procrastination became slowly eradicated and delay is no longer permissible. Well, this does not apply to ALL things. This only applies when money is involved. Yes, and that's a fact. When you are applying for a loan, or filing for reimbursement, of course nobody wants a delayed result. Every one of us wants to get it sooner than later.

How about when talking in the other aspect of our lives? Our spirituality? Seldom we can hear that one is in a hurry to get to know God and His miracles. It always have been in slower pace... still processing. It is easy to live an easy-go-lucky kind of life without considering if we'll be breathing our last breathe in the next few seconds or longer... So sad because, only few take that into consideration. Even for us, who claim to have accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Saviour. We, sometimes failed and neglect or rather forget to correct it thinking that with just a little prayer of "I'm Sorry, Lord" all becomes well. That should not be the case. I am getting passive sometimes in reminding myself of the things that I ought to do yet failed to do it...

There's a risk in delaying the things that is for God... we do not own our lives, He is still in control. Whether we are in good health or not, he can take our lives ANYTIME. We do not know what lies ahead, but we were already given the scenario on what would life be ahead of us through His words if we completely believe it and long for it.

Let's not waste our lives,rather let's live it to the fullest!

When I watched this movie,one adjective that I could best describe about the story is SPLENDID! Well, splendid in the sense that I love the plot of the story though it is really bloody... This movie is full of mixed emotions. The cinematography was really creatively done. Kudos to the Director and the people who gave life to its characters. Can you still remember Gerard Butler who plays Leonidas, the Spartan who leads an army of 300 against a Persian invasion.I am pretty sure that most of us never missed to watch this... However, I do insist to feature this movie to give us some sort of a review... Can you still remember the famous yell of the leading man? SPARTAN...!

Until what degree do we have to hold on in a shaky relationship? When the feeling is gone? As I log on to my Yahoo account last night, headliner on the Y! News was the Kris-James Yap Marital issue. Mr. Glenn Plaza, the writer, was right when he commented that with their decisions, both of them will be losers. It turned out that the most affected one will be their children. Yes, Infidelity is a serious matter, I cannot even imagine being in that kind of situation (God forbid). But if l♥ve will prevail, forgiveness and re-commitment must follow. it's up to James how he would win Kris' trust for him, and it's up to Kris how she would weigh things out. As the song goes "If there's one spark of hope, left in my grasp... I still believe, someday You and Me..." will Kris gonna sing this song?

Burnished Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients:

4 Egg Whites

2 1/2 Cups Confectioners Sugar

1 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

2 Tbsp All-Purpose Flour

1 1/2 Tsp Instant Coffee

1 Tbsp Water

Instructions:

Heat your oven to 350 degrees. Line your cookie sheets with parchment paper, this is a MUST for this recipe, or you won't be able to get the cookies off of the cookie sheet. Sift together the dry ingredients over a bowl and set aside. Add the egg whites to your mixer bowl and beat until they foam, about 2-3 minutes on medium-high speed. Turn off the mixer, pour in the dry ingredients and mix on low until combined. Add the water, turn the mixer up to medium speed and beat until the batter is thick and shiny - just a few minutes. This batter will be like glossy sludge. Scoop by tablespoon full onto cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Cool on parchment on wire racks. After 5 minutes of cooling, carefully peel cookies off parchment and allow to cool completely on wire rack. This recipe makes about two dozen cookies.

Peanut Butter Chicken With Mandarin Cashew

Ingredients:

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves, cut into cubes

3 Tablespoons peanut butter,

(I used crunchy)

1/4 cup soy sauce

1 Tablespoon honey

1 Tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

6 cups bite-size Romaine lettuce

(I used lettuce)

1 red pepper, julienned

3 green onions, or onions, chopped

1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves, minced

( i used parsley)

Dressing:

1/3 cup chopped cashews

1 cup mandarin oranges, drained

Instructions:

1. In a small glass bowl, whisk together peanut butter, soy sauce, honey, olive oil, garlic powder, ginger, and cayenne pepper. Microwave on High 1 minute.

2. Place chicken in baking dish and pour peanut butter sauce over. Bake at 350 degrees (175C) oven.

3. In a large bowl, place lettuce, red pepper, onions, add chicken and toss to mix well. Pour Dressing over mixture and toss gently to coat. Garnish with cashews and mandarin oranges.

Makes 4 servings.

Dressing:

Whisk together 1/2 cup italian salad dressing, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, 1 Tabelspoon soy sauce and 1 teaspoon garlic powder.

Note:

I did NOT use cilantro, i don't really care for it, i replaced it with parsley.

Next time, I will stir fry the chicken, that is faster. I used crunchy peanut butter, my all time favorite.

Strawberry Jam

Ingredients:
1 32 oz package of fresh strawberry's(mashed)
1 1/2 box of sure jell pectin
4 1/2 cups sugar or splenda
1 large canner
12 oz mason jars(screw bands and lids)
canning tongs

Ingredients:

Fill canner with water and bring to a roaring boil. Wash jars,screw
bands and lids with hot soapy water and rinse. Place in canner
to sterilize for 10 to 15 minutes.

Meanwhile place strawberry's in large bowl and mash with a potato masher. Add to sauce pan and add sugar. Cook to a roaring boil and stir. Turn heat down to medium and add sugar. Stir until sugar is melted. Add pectin and keep stirring until thickened. Pour hot strawberry mixture into sterilized jars and screw on the lids. Place jars back into canner for 10 to 15 minutes tobegin the sealing process. Remove and let cool overnight.
Refrigerate after opening.

Maybe, you are among those who are skeptic about the reliability of the said machine.It cannot be denied that some glitches were being found about some components of the PCOS machine that was covered by the media which stirred doubts among the electorate. Almost all people have this apprehensions about the outcome for this year's election. Just this morning as I passed by on one of my neighbor, I overheard them talking about a possible Failure of Election (God forbid!). This might be considered as one of the drastic decisions made by our government (getting automated) but the fact that the information drive were not fully given to all of us (even myself didn't get the chance of attending some sort of a demo campaign), we just cannot blame the questioning majority. One of the elders in our church shared that it should haven't implemented yet to all regions. They should have started first at Luzon as part of the trial and error period. If the COMELEC found out that it was a successful venture, then they can have it implemented fully by the next election.... Anyway, it's just his comment and observation and I totally agree with him...

Whatever is the outcome of this Monday's big event, let us just hope and pray that everything will work out in accordance to God's will and purpose.

Few days more to go and it's gonna be the 2010 Presidential Election. What would be the outcome of the election depends on the conscience and heart of those who were manning the process (the COMELEC so to speak). Many hearsay about failed election confused the minds of the lowly citizens. The apprehensions about automated elections brought chaos among the general public. We cannot blame them anyway... It's in the nationwide circulation as well as national televisions and even on radios. Instead of feeding ourselves with negative news, let's just lift everything to God. We cannot just sing Que Sera Sera here, we need an intervention from the Divine Power to have an Honest, Orderly and Peaceful Election (HOPE so...)
Join us in prayers... Like what our Executive Pastor told us, before going to the Voting Room, do not forget to pray for enlightenment...
Let's save our country once and for all... This is the only country that we have.

I wrote this one year ago during our Seminar in Multi- Intelligence Skills with Mrs. Rowena Rodriguez Edroin. She's the one who inspired us to create a blog...

Our task as a teacher is not limited to teaching solely the field we are into. We need to be flexible enough and see to it that we are student-oriented. We should not focus only on what they are going to learn but how they will learn it. We have to be creative in a way that the student can appreciate what he is about to learn.

Dealing with students who have difficulties in learning is another issue that should be addressed carefully. We just can’t pre-judge our students for being too slow in a certain area. We should find the reason behind it. This is what a Learning Curriculum Teacher should look forward to. For every difficulty, there’s a specific “accommodation”. We just have to be observant and apply the right solution that suits to solve the problem.Teacher has to be versatile in every way. :)

The time I learned the theme for this week's episode of TCP, this is the first movie that came to my mind. I love how Samuel Jackson and Sandra Bullock portrayed their role as the father and the lawyer respectively. A story of racial discrimanation, how the justice deals about it, and how the father intend to put the justice on his hands. Indeed, there's a time for everything... a time to cry, a time to die and a TIME TO KILL. The movie is based from a novel written by best seller author John Grisham .

A lawyer and his assistant fighting to save a father on trial for murder. A time to question what they believe. A time to doubt what they trust. And no time for mistakes.

I am a certified internet user. I love to search about the latest in music, download MP3’s and videos as well. and watched my favorite Korean novels! Unfortunately, I can’t do a lot of things simultaneously. Chances are, it will download slowly or the computer may hang and need to restart it then go through the same process again one at a time. Banana Recipe

* 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed

* 1/3 cup melted butter

* 1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)

* 1 egg, beaten

* 1 teaspoon vanilla

* 1 teaspoon baking soda

* Pinch of salt

* 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour

No need for a mixer for this recipe. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in. Add the flour last, mix. Pour mixture into a buttered 4x8 inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a rack. Remove from pan and slice to serve.

Pineapple Casserole

2 cans crushed pineapple, drained (Reserve 6 Tbsp. of pineapple juice)

2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese

2 cups Ritz crackers, crushed

1 c. sugar

6 Tbsp. plain flour

1 stick butter

Preheat over 350 degrees. Spray casserole dish with non-stick spray. Combine sugar and flour and then mix with cheese and pineapple. Pour into dish. Melt butter and add crushed crackers plus the reserved pineapple juice. Stir well to coat all crackers. Spread buttered crackers on top. Cook for 25 minutes.

The Reason Of My Existence

An old photo of the wedding of my parents... They were the reason of my existence...They were no longer together. This is the only photo that was left. It looks like dilapidated, torn and partially damaged (aren't they meant the same thing? ;)Unfortunately, this was soaked on flood water that's why it looks bad. Anyway, good thing there is a technology called scanner where we can have our most treasure picture scanned and save. :)

Avocado Corn Salsa

2 small to medium ripe avocados, peeled, seeded, and finely diced

1 cup fresh or frozen corn kernels

2 medium tomatoes, seeded and finely diced

2 to 3 tablespoons lime juice

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh cilantro

1/2 to 1 teaspoon minced hot green chile peppers

1/2 teaspoon salt

In a medium bowl, gently combine avocado, corn kernels, tomatoes, lime juice, cilantro, chile peppers, and salt. Cover and refrigerate until ready to be served.

Lasagna Roll Ups

Lasagna Roll Ups

1 package uncooked lasagna noodles

2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

1 container ricotta cheese

2 eggs

2 cups grated Parmesan cheese

1 (28 ounce) jar pasta sauce

1 lb hamburger meat

2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded

**Season, brown, drain and add hamburger to the pasta sauce.

**Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles for 5 to 8 minutes, or until just slightly underdone; drain and rinse. Lay out noodles on top of tin foil on the counter.

**In a large mixing bowl, mix together grated cheese, ricotta cheese, 2eggs, and Parmesan cheese.

**Spray bottom of 13x9 pan with cooking spray, and then cover bottom with a thin layer of pasta sauce.

**Spread a layer of the cheese mixture on the noodle. Roll the noodle up, and place seam side down the pan. Repeat for other noodles. Top with remaining sauce.

**Cover pan with foil and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 30 min.

**Uncover the pan and add a little shredded cheddar cheese to the top of each roll up. Return to uven until the cheese is melted.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

Sweet and sour chicken

* 2 pounds skinned, de-boned chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces

* 1 cup all-purpose flour

* A little fresh ground black pepper, ground ginger, garlic powder and salt for seasoning (not a lot)

* 2 eggs

* vegetable oil

* sweet and sour sauce (buy or make it yourself)

* When cutting the chicken into bite-sized pieces, remove any fat, gristle or connective tissue. If the chicken is soft-frozen or almost thawed it is easier to cut.

* In a bowl mix eggs and seasoning. Beat until well combined. Add chicken and let it stand for half an hour.

* Place flour in a shallow bowl.

* Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour coating thoroughly (use chop sticks or two spoons to keep the flour off from your fingers).

* In frying pan, add 1/2-inch vegetable oil. Heat to deep-frying temperature.

* Drop pieces into the hot oil and fry until deep golden brown. Turn as necessary to cook evenly on all sides.

* When golden brown, remove to paper towel covered plate to drain.

* Place chicken to other frying pan and add sauce, mix and heat until the sauce is hot.

* Serve with rice.

Italian Chicken Pasta

Italian Chicken Pasta

(Adapted from the Sandra Lee Semi Homemade Slow Cooker Cookbook)

Prep - 10 min.

Cook - Slow Cooker 5-7hrs.

Makes - 6 serving

2 lbs. boneless skinless chicken

1 can (28 oz) diced tomatoes

1 pkg. (8 oz) frozen artichoke hearts

1 can (15 oz) pinto beans

1 (8 oz) pkg. Fresh presliced mushrooms

1 pkt. dried vegetable soup mix

1 can (10.75 oz) cond. cream of ckn. soup

1/3 cup Italian salad dressing

Campanelle Pasta

Combine tomatoes, artichoke hearts, beans, mushrooms, and veg. soup mix in slow cooker. Add chicken.

In a small bowl, mix soup and salad dressing. Pour over chicken.

Cook on LOW for 5-7 hrs.

Cook pasta

Shred chicken and serve over pasta.

Most impulsive buyer resorted to debt just to acquire the things that they really want- the end result was a mere frustration. This is the problem for most of us. We just don't know how to control ourselves that we were compelled to buy something which is really not that valuable but just because we felt good of acquiring it, we forced ourselves to have it by any means that will do. This is the main reason why we cannot save anything for rainy days. Too bad. If we cannot overcome this kind of attitude then there'll be no money saving tips will be able to suit for us. My colleague approached me just this morning asking me to assist her for the wedding reception program of her friend who is bound to tie a knot early next year (January 6, 2010). She was so desperate for help that she will not take NO for an answer. So I browsed the internet for some ideas and happened to stumble upon this blog about the "beliefs" of Filipino's traditional way of wedding preparation and celebration

Filipinos still adhere to numerous widely-held folk beliefs that have no scientific or logical basis but maybe backed-up by some past experiences (yet can be dismissed as mere coincidence). Below are just a few that concerns weddings. Some are still practiced to this day primarily because of 'there's nothing to lose if we comply' attitude while the others are totally ignored for it seemed downright ridiculous.

Brides shouldn't try on her wedding dress before the wedding day or the wedding will not push through. Knives and other sharp and pointed objects are said to be a bad choice for wedding gifts for this will lead to a broken marriage.

Giving arinola (chamberpot) as wedding gift is believed to bring good luck to newlyweds. Altar-bound couples are accident-prone and therefore must avoid long drives or traveling before their wedding day for safety.

The groom who sits ahead of his bride during the wedding ceremony will be a henpecked husband. If it rains during the wedding, it means prosperity and happiness for the newlyweds.

- A flame extinguished on one of the wedding candles means the one on which side has the unlit candle, will die ahead of the other.

Throwing rice confetti at the newlyweds will bring them prosperity all their life.

The groom must arrive before the bride at the church to avoid bad luck.

It is considered bad luck for two siblings to marry on the same year.

Breaking something during the reception brings good luck to the newlyweds.

The bride should step on the groom's foot while walking towards the altar if she wants him to agree to her every whim.

A bride who wears pearls on her wedding will be an unhappy wife experiencing many heartaches and tears.

An unmarried woman who follows the footsteps (literally) of the newlyweds will marry soon.

Dropping the wedding ring, the veil or the arrhae during the ceremony spells unhappiness for the couple.

In early Filipino custom, the groom-to-be threw his spear at the front steps of his intended's home, a sign that she has been spoken for. These days, a ring suffices as the symbol of engagement.

The Engagement

After the couple has decided to marry, the first order of business is the pamanhikan, where the groom and his parents visit the bride's family to ask for her hand in marriage. Wedding plans are often made at this time, including a discussion of the budget and guest list. Don't be surprised if the groom-to-be is expected to run some errands or help out around the bride's house. This tradition is called paninilbihan, where the suitor renders service to his future wife's family to gain their approval.

The Wedding Outfits

The white wedding dress has become popular in the last hundred years or so with America's influence in the Philippines. Before that, brides wore their best dress, in a festive color or even stylish black, to celebrate a wedding. Orange blossom bouquets and adornments were a must during the turn of the last century. For men, the barong tagalog is the traditional Filipino formal wear.

It is a cool, almost transparent, embroidered shirt, made from silky pina or jusi, two native ecru fabrics. It is worn untucked, over black pants, with a white t-shirt underneath. These days, a Filipino groom might wear the conventional black tux, but Filipino male wedding guests will usually show up in their finest barongs.

The Ceremony

In pre-colonial days, a wedding ceremony lasted three days. On the first day, the bride and groom were brought to the house of a priest or babaylan, who joined their hands over a plate of raw rice and blessed the couple. On the third day, the priest pricked the chests of both bride and groom and drew a little blood. Joining their hands, they declared their love for each other three times. The priest then fed them cooked rice from the same plate and gave them a drink of some of their blood mixed with water. Binding their hands and necks with a cord, he declared them married. The majority of Filipino weddings are now Catholic weddings, but some native traditions remain. Most have special "sponsors" who act as witnesses to the marriage. The principal sponsors could be godparents, counselors, a favorite uncle and aunt, even a parent. Secondary sponsors handle special parts of the ceremony, such as the candle, cord and veil ceremonies. Candle sponsors light two candles, which the bride and groom use to light a single candle to symbolize the joining of the two families and to invoke the light of Christ in their married life. Veil sponsors place a white veil over the bride's head and the groom's shoulders, a symbol of two people clothed as one. Cord sponsors drape the yugal (a decorative silk cord) in a figure-eight shape--to symbolize everlasting fidelity--over the shoulders of the bride and groom. The groom gives the bride 13 coins, or arrhae, blessed by the priest, as a sign of his dedication to his wife's well-being and the welfare of their future children.

The Food

The Filipino wedding feast is elaborate. One feast celebrated at the turn of the last century involved these foods: First was served cold vermicelli soup. The soup was followed by meats of unlimited quantity--stewed goat, chicken minced with garlic, boiled ham, stuffed capon, roast pork and several kinds of fish. There were no salads, but plenty of relishes, including red peppers, olives, green mango pickles and crystallized fruits. For dessert, there were meringues, baked custard flan, coconut macaroons and sweetened seeds of the nipa plant.
